Jimmy Carter, who served as the 39th president of the United States from 1977 to 1981, died on Dec. 29, 2024, at the age of 100. Among Carter's many diplomatic achievements during his presidency, perhaps the most notable was promoting the establishment of diplomatic relations between the U.S. and China.
Recalling former U.S. president Jimmy Carter, Bruce Reynolds, a professor emeritus from the University of Virginia (UVA), told China News Network that Carter is a man of morality, intelligence. He is well-trained with committed attitude throughout his career. Besides, he is a man believed in facts and analysis.
Reynolds further pointed out that Carter is committed to making peace all his life and he is persisted in doing right things. He added that it is Carter’s courage that makes the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the U.S. and China possible, In the eyes of Carter making peace represents doing right things . 11月1日，黄永宏在接受采访时进一步阐述说，无论是在经济上还是军事上，相信中美两国都将继续变强，“我不认为美国正在衰落，至少在未来几十年内不会；我相信中国将继续变强，在科学、工程等方面具有固有的优势。因为两国都继续强大，他们不得不达成共识，并理解彼此的分歧，这些分歧不足以引发冲突。但是如果没有他们的共同努力，我们的世界将变得非常危险和脆弱。”
会议指出，要着力推进金融高水平开放，确保国家金融和经济安全。坚持“引进来”和“走出去”并重，稳步扩大金融领域制度型开放，提升跨境投融资便利化，吸引更多外资金融机构和长期资本来华展业兴业。
在提高金融监管有效性方面，依法将所有金融活动全部纳入监管，全面强化机构监管、行为监管、功能监管、穿透式监管、持续监管，消除监管空白和盲区，严厉打击非法金融活动，及时处置中小金融机构风险。
