Jimmy Carter, who served as the 39th president of the United States from 1977 to 1981, died on Dec. 29, 2024, at the age of 100. Among Carter's many diplomatic achievements during his presidency, perhaps the most notable was promoting the establishment of diplomatic relations between the U.S. and China.
Recalling former U.S. president Jimmy Carter, Bruce Reynolds, a professor emeritus from the University of Virginia (UVA), told China News Network that Carter is a man of morality, intelligence. Reynolds further pointed out that Carter is committed to making peace all his life and he is persisted in doing right things. 黄永宏也表示中美战略竞争是这一代人核心的难题之一，中美将继续是经济和军事大国，两国在意识形态、政治和价值体系上的差异也会一直存在，“不论是美国或中国衰落，世界都不会变得更好”。黄永宏说，“我们需要一个强大的美国和一个强大的中国，才能有效应对全球挑战。要改善双方关系需要的是两国的政治决心和努力。”
