Jimmy Carter, who served as the 39th president of the United States from 1977 to 1981, died on Dec. 29, 2024, at the age of 100. Among Carter's many diplomatic achievements during his presidency, perhaps the most notable was promoting the establishment of diplomatic relations between the U.S. and China.
Recalling former U.S. president Jimmy Carter, Bruce Reynolds, a professor emeritus from the University of Virginia (UVA), told China News Network that Carter is a man of morality, intelligence. He is well-trained with committed attitude throughout his career. Besides, he is a man believed in facts and analysis.
Reynolds further pointed out that Carter is committed to making peace all his life and he is persisted in doing right things. He added that it is Carter’s courage that makes the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the U.S. and China possible, In the eyes of Carter making peace represents doing right things . 吴江浩：中国是市场经济国家，外资企业有进有出是正常现象。确实有部分外企退出中国，但没有出现所谓“逃离潮”。过去几年，受新冠疫情、地缘政治、贸易保护主义等多重因素影响，全球跨国投资出现普遍性下滑趋势。根据联合国贸发会议（UNCTAD）统计，2023年全球跨国直接投资额减少18%，主要外资流入目的地都出现较大幅度下滑，像印度减少47%，东盟减少16%。与之相比，外国投资者对华投资热情并未减退，依然坚定看好中国发展前景。2023年中国新设立外商投资企业53766家，同比增长39.7%。实际使用外资金额11339.1亿元人民币，引资规模仅次于2021年、2022年，处于历史第三高。同时，中国引资结构持续优化，高技术产业引资占比达到37.4%。
办好资本市场，必须坚持市场化法治化改革方向，加快上市公司监管、证券公司监管、证券投资基金监管、债券监管等各领域立法修法，及时评估完善业务规则，从制度上保障资本市场良法善治。
